Current Global Women Projects

Project: Central Asia Women’s Conference, March 2009, in
Almaty, Kazakhstan

Note: project proposal is pending approval from the Global Women Board of Directors. The goal of this project is to facilitate the development of friendships and to encourage spiritual growth among 100 Christian women from unreached people groups, to provide discipleship training and to organize the women to continue to support each other. This event will host women from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kirghizstan and Turkmenistan.

 

Project: New Sewing Business Initiative, Karakalpak Republic, Uzbekistan

The goal of this project is to enable an indigenous Christian Woman, educated in social work and evangelism, to purchase four sewing machines, furniture and supplies to begin a small sewing business in her home. The business will provide an income for her family, for Christian women she can employ and will provide opportunities for underground church members to gather in her home without being arrested for gathering as a church. In her society, a sewing business is needed, and has the potential of being quite successful. This woman and her husband are committed to stay in the town unlike many others who seek jobs outside their home country. 


Project: Kazakhstan Women’s Conference, August, 2008, in Skymkent, Kazakhstan Note: project proposal is pending approval from the Global Women Board of Directors. The goal of this project is to equip women to address some of the cultural, social and spiritual challenges they face and to educate women to help eliminate sexual trafficking.

 

Project: Sexual Trafficking Prevention in Kishinau (Chisinau), Moldova

The goal of this project is to prevent young people from being sexually trafficked. Support is given for work directed by Yulia Ubeivolc and her social ministry team, which includes training programs offered in area high schools.

 

Project: Regional Training to Prevent Sexual Trafficking throughout Moldova

The goal of this project is to equip church leaders with information and tools to raise the level of awareness about sexual trafficking in their churches and communities.


Project: Women’s Leadership Development Center of the Myanmar Baptist Convention  The goal of this project is to assist in the community health training program and meet other needs of the center.

 

Project: Zoe Center of Yangon Karen Baptist Women’s Association in Burma (Myanmar) The goal of this project is to assist in the community health training program and meet other needs of the center.

 

Project: Pwo Karen Baptist Women’s Association in Burma (Myanmar)

The goal of this project is to assist with their nurse training program and other projects as needed.

 

Project: Pathein Sqaw Baptist Women’s Association in Burma (Myanmar)

The goal of this project is to assist with their nurse training program and other projects as needed.

 

Project: Institute for Latina Leadership of the Baptist University of the Americas

The goal of this project will be to promote the discovery, development, and nurturance of women leaders from a Latina perspective through formal trainings as well as research and publications.  Through a three year training program BUA students will receive BA credit for the first January term.  After the three year process, they will receive a Certificate in Leadership that can be used as continuing education units.
